We have some outdoor wood picnic tables that are currently unfinished and kind of grayish from being outside for years. I would like to sand them then apply a clear polyurethane finish on them. Is that what I would use? Is there a special kind that I need? I've never done this before so any help would be great! By the way, I don't know if this matters, but the tables are in the sun pretty much all day. Thanks for your help. If I just sand it instead of powerwashing it, will it also work?

No back, just a bench to sit on. The seat is part of a recycled futon frame and a cushion. It just needs legs. I tried stacking block columns, but they're not the right size, and the seat rocks and isn't steady. I need to attach seat to base.

The bench was painted with dark brown paint. The paint flaked off from the yellow cedar, but stuck to the pine. Now I removed the paint from the visible parts as good as I could.On the the underside and the back I will leave the old paint. Which product will adhere well to the yellow cedar and the pine? I would prefer a darker color because for the legs and support- 2x4s scrap wood has been used which is of different shades.I want to be sure that no cloths will be stained when sitting on the bench.

For my eagle project i'm am building a sitting area at the local senoir housing. Since they are old i would like a bench plan that is confertable to sit in (with a slope), a back to rest against, as well as farely high so it's easy to get up from. I would need a site that gives all dementions keeping in mind that it's relitively easy to build and not complicated.

If so, whats a good short romantic quote to put on the plaque?? Nothing too soppy, they arent like that. I just think it would be so good for them to be sittign there in ten years or whatever and have a nice quote to read, and remember their wedding.

The picnic table set was left outside too long in bad weather. The top needs sanding before restaining and varnishing, but the benches are in pretty good shape. Can I just revarnish over the old varnish?

Alright, so right now I am trying to do my Eagle project for scouts. I need to build some good park benches, but I can't find any good plans. I want them to look good, (they will probably be made of a material that doesn't rot but works just like wood). Anyone got any good plans I can use? I would like either metal hand rails or metal post in the ground. Thx.

i to buy some metal tubing for an outdoor bench im currently making but im not sure what type of metal sqecifically i should use. any suggestions would be great, it needs to be rust proof and corrosion resistant im also on a budget and live in the UK if you have any suggestions. ive just looked at some alluminium tubing and there seems to be to thicknesses 16 swg and 10 swg. 10 swg is thicker but would the 16 swg still be strong enough as it is cheaper.

Previously I've used galvinized bolts that work. Are any other type of bolts that can be used that are cheaper, yet still rust resistant?
